In this episode, we interview Elizabeth Ratta. We couldn’t have done Season 2 of Doing Good without an interview with Elizabeth - fellow brain aneurysm survivor, mom, wife, runner, and advocate. This was truly a special interview with someone who we are so grateful to have crossed paths with. Elizabeth has done so much for the brian aneurysm community. She established a research grant in honor of her grandmother and she continues ‘doing good’ by providing support for families of patients in need at University of Vermont Medical Center. In this episode, we interview Laura Kern. When Laura returned home from Keck Medicine of USC, on March 19, 2022, she began her recovery by tracking two strangers, Dr. Russin & myself, running the LA Marathon that same day. Little did she know then, that only a year after surviving a ruptured brain aneurysm, she would be running that same marathon with us. With a second chance at life, Laura continues to pay it forward by inspiring and helping other survivors return to what they love. This episode was recorded on July 18, 2023.

In this episode, we interview Robin Simone. If you were to look up "beast mode", you’d likely find a picture of Robi Simone. With only 10 miles left in the bike portion of Ironman Wisconsin, Robi found herself out-of-nowhere battling with double vision. She somehow still managed to complete the 112 mile bike leg to T2 and rack her bike. But this wasn’t where she had to be strong, it was the next 7 weeks when she had to endure insurmountable pain in her search for proper treatment for her brain aneurysm and fight for her life. This episode was recorded on July 10, 2023.

In this episode, we interview Andrea Calleja. Andrea suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2019, just days after running the Chicago marathon. After surgery, her first doctor told her she can no longer run, but she did not let that stop her from running marathons. With a new perspective on life, Andrea continues to run for good. Mark spent over 16 years with the Special Olympics of Delaware and now works with the Delaware State Parks. He is a long-time endurance athlete who has competed in over 20 Ironman triathlons, including the World Championships in Kona 3 times.
